The Recovery Resource Center was founded
by James Garrett, LCSW in 1998 and is located in Albany,
NY. The Center offers both recovery-related services
for individuals and families, as well as, training for
professionals. The Center's recovery-related
services focus on the two ends of the recovery
spectrum.
First, is the importance of an individual
getting past his/her denial and getting started in
treatment. The Center uses the ARISE method of Intervention to
mobilize families and concerned others to help the addicted
person get started in treatment. This new method works with
families and networks in a manner that treats the addicted person
with respect and focuses on a win-win for all participants. We
know that your relationship with the addicted person in your life
presents many challenges. The ARISE method is respectful
of your interest in the long term nature of this relationship, while
at the same time helping you get the addicted person started in
treatment and/or self-help. It is not necessary to let an
addicted person "hit bottom" in order to start recovery. Find out
how more than 500 families have successfully used the ARISE method
to get their loved one started in treatment clicking on the
ARISE Intervention button.
Second, is the need to do ongoing
personal growth work after the addiction has stabilized. Early
recovery work focuses on stopping the use. Stage 2 recovery
work focuses on understanding and changing long-standing
destructive patterns of thinking and behavior that often
underlie the addiction and may even get worse once the alcohol
and/or drug use stops. The Recovery Resource Center
offers Earnie Larsen's Life Management Program to
address the core issues that remain present even after the
addiction is stabilized.
Earnie Larsen is a pioneer in the
development of this program to address Stage 2 recovery
issues. Earnie Larsen is the author of Stage II
Recovery and Stage II Relationships. To learn more
